About

We are a family of Lutheran Christians called together by the Holy Spirit to love and serve God, and to serve and love our neighbors. Our mission is to Make Christ Known, and we do this by proclaiming the Good News of God in Jesus Christ by what we say and what we do. We are not perfect people. We are “still sinners in need of a Savior,” or as Martin Luther is credited as saying, we are simply “beggars who know where the bread is.” (See John’s gospel, chapter 6 in the Bible, to find that Bread.) The congregation was founded in 1872, and has a long heritage of sending missionaries and pastors from the congregation out into the world, as well as providing a witness to Jesus right here in our daily lives. Today we are about two hundred total members. On any given Sunday, you’ll see about 60 of us in worship. We are affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and are part of an active Detroit Lakes area ministerium made up of many denominations of Christian churches. Following worship, we have a time of fellowship for all, Sunday School for grades K-6, and Confirmation classes for grades 7-9. We join together with local churches for choir, youth, and other activities.
